Rishabh Pant, the Indian wicket-keeper batter, is still out of action following a severe car crash on December 30th. In the unfortunate incident, Pant’s car caught fire, but he was able to escape before it was too late. While he is undergoing rehabilitation, Indian cricket great Kapil Dev jokingly stated that he wants to give Pant a slap as soon as he fully recovers from the injuries sustained in the near-fatal crash.
In a video on Uncut, Kapil Dev stated that Pant’s injury has impacted the Indian team greatly. He jokingly added that, like parents who have the right to discipline their children when they err, he too wants to give Pant a light slap once he has fully recovered from the accident.
“I have a deep affection for Rishabh Pant,” Kapil Dev stated in a video on Uncut. “I want him to get better soon so I can go and slap him for not taking better care of himself. The team is suffering because of his accident. While I love him, I am also frustrated with his actions. Why do young people today make these kinds of mistakes? They deserve a good scolding.”
“May the divine grace be upon Rishabh Pant and bless him with good health. As a caring figure, I have the duty to discipline, just as parents do with their children when they err,” stated Kapil Dev.
Since his car accident, Pant has undergone several surgical procedures to treat his burns. The 25-year-old cricketer faces a long road to recovery and is expected to miss the upcoming Indian Premier League season. At present, a return to cricket in 2023 seems unlikely.
