Jio Cinema, in an effort to entice cricket enthusiasts, has introduced several features such as live streaming of IPL 2023 in 12 different languages. However, what stood out the most was the Bhojpuri commentary on Jio Cinema during the first game of IPL 2023. The commentators’ use of certain terms left cricket fans in stitches, making it a truly captivating feature.

On March 31st, the opening match of IPL 2023 was held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where defending champions Gujarat Titans faced off against Chennai Super Kings. The opening ceremony featured numerous Bollywood celebrities, including Arijit Singh, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Rashmika Mandanna.

Jio Cinema, as the official digital partner for IPL 2023, is streaming the 16th edition of the lucrative league in 12 different languages. Viewers can select from English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bhojpuri, Bengali, Punjabi, Oriya, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu to watch the games.

Although Jio Cinema’s decision to stream IPL 2023 in multiple languages was a brilliant idea to engage cricket fans, it was the Bhojpuri commentary that won the hearts of viewers after the first match. Some of the Bhojpuri commentators’ remarks were incredibly amusing and quickly went viral on social media.

During the game, Gujarat Titans’ fast bowler, Mohammad Shami, bowled a waist-high no-ball to CSK’s Moeen Ali, resulting in a free hit. After the no-ball, the Bhojpuri commentator’s humorous comment grabbed everyone’s attention: “Ee ka ho, munh ha phod be ka? (What was that? It could have broken the batter’s face.)”

In the meantime, the Gujarat Titans secured a 5-wicket victory over MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2023 opening match. The Titans managed to chase down the CSK total in the final over, extending their record of winning 9 out of 10 matches while chasing.
