At the start of the third day, overnight batsmen Ben Duckett and Joe Root cautiously faced Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav. Duckett seemed to find his rhythm quickly, favoring the heave and sweep shots, while Root struggled and eventually fell attempting a reverse ramp against Bumrah.

Jonny Bairstow followed suit, departing for a duck after being deceived by Kuldeep’s wrong’un, leaving England at 225/4. Despite Duckett surpassing the 150-run mark, he fell to a loose delivery from the left-arm wrist spinner within the next 57 deliveries, with England’s score at 260/5.

Mohammad Siraj joined Kuldeep in a lengthy spell but failed to secure any further wickets until lunch, as Stokes and Ben Foakes adopted a cautious approach. England resumed the second session at 290/5, only to be troubled by exceptional bowling from the Indian team.

Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj struck in consecutive overs, dismissing Stokes (41) and Foakes. Siraj continued to dominate, claiming four wickets in total, including the dismissals of Rehan Ahmed and James Anderson, as England folded for 319. In response, India cautiously began their innings with Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal, but Sharma’s stay was short-lived as an England review off Joe Root’s bowling sent him back just before Tea.

Starting at 44/1 in the third session, Jaiswal and Gill thwarted any chances for the English bowlers. Despite a slow start, Jaiswal picked up the pace and aggressively attacked the English attack during the final hour of play. He reached his fifty off 80 balls and accelerated, scoring the next fifty runs in just 42 deliveries.

Gill initially played a supporting role in their 155-run partnership but later reached his own half-century with a six. Unfortunately, Jaiswal retired hurt on 104*, leaving Rajat Patidar to join Gill, who remained unbeaten on 65* alongside nightwatchman Kuldeep Yadav until the close of play for the day.
