Jaydev Unadkat, the star pacer for Lucknow Super Giants, has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL) season after suffering a shoulder injury during LSG’s training session on April 30.

The left-arm pacer stumbled and landed awkwardly on his left shoulder while bowling his first ball in the nets on Sunday. He underwent scans in Mumbai and consulted with BCCI’s medical staff before likely heading to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to start his rehab and regain his fitness.

Although Unadkat’s injury is a major blow for LSG, he is expected to recover in time for the World Test Championship 2023 final (WTC) against Australia, which starts on June 7 at London’s The Oval.

Unadkat, 31, was named in India’s 15-member squad for the WTC final after making his return to Test cricket in India’s last two Test series against Australia and Bangladesh following a gap of 12 years.

He played a pivotal role in leading Saurashtra to the Ranji Trophy 2022 title with nine wickets in the final but did not feature in any match in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023.
