England cricketer Jofra Archer has been ruled out of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and the remainder of IPL 2021 owing to an elbow injury. He is also reportedly set to miss the Ashes due to the very same reason.
Archer has suffered from elbow issues for a while now and is now set to remain away from the field at least till the end of the year. He has not been able to play cricket regularly for almost one year owing to the same injury. During the 5-match test series against India earlier this year, his situation had worsened and he thus had to pull off from the series after playing the initial matches. He might have made a short return in May but his injury again held him back.

England are already missing Archer in the ongoing test series between them and India and if the reports are true, they will also miss him in Ashes 2021-22 down the line which will be a major blow to their hopes.
Jofra Archer had earlier hoped that he would recover by the T20 World Cup but his estimations were all wrong. “One thing I am determined about post-elbow operation is not to rush my comeback,” Archer had written in his column in the Daily Mail a few days ago, “because my primary focus is to be playing for England in the Twenty20 World Cup and Ashes later this year.”
“Those are my targets. If I come back before then and manage to play in the home Test series against India — then fine, so be it. If I don’t, I am quite prepared to sit out the summer.”
“The way I am looking at things is that I would rather miss a few weeks of a year so that I have a few more years in my career.”
