It has been officially confirmed now that KKR spinner Kuldeep Yadav has suffered a serious knee injury during the practice sessions at UAE and he thus has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2021. He has already travelled back to India for his surgery and it thus extends his wait to make his way back to the KKR playing XI by almost a year or so.

Kuldeep Yadav’s injury will not hamper KKR’s shot at the trophy this season as they are pretty well off without him. They are in terrific form and it doesn’t seem like they need his help anyways. Despite being one of the star spinners in the KKR squad inder Gautam Gambhir, Kuldeep Yadav has failed to find a spot in the playing XI lately. Not only that, he has lost his spot in the Team India squad as well.

Confirming the news, a BCCI official tracking developments of IPL teams told PTI on condition of anonymity: “Yes, we got the information that Kuldeep sustained a nasty knee injury during a practice session in UAE. Apparently while fielding, he twisted his knee and it was really bad at that point.”

“There was no chance that he could have taken any further part and was sent back to India.”

“Knee injuries are generally bad. It’s a very long process from starting to walk and then getting strength back through intense physiotherapy sessions at the NCA, followed by light intensity training and finally starting with net sessions.

“It can’t be said with certainty that Kuldeep will be match ready by the time Ranji Trophy ends,” another IPL source said about the recent unfortunate developments about the player.
KKR just tasted their first loss of phase 2 of IPL 2021 yesterday against CSK despite being in a winning position. They will play their next match against Delhi Capitals tomorrow.
