Kusal Perera and Binura Fernando to miss out on ODI series against India – Big blow to Sri Lanka

It has been made official that Sri Lankan captain Kusal Perera is set to miss their upcoming ODI series against India. He will not be the only one to miss out on the series as Sri lankan pacer Binura Fernando has also been ruled out.

India and Sri Lanka will square off against each other in a 3-match ODI series which will be followed by a same number of T20 matches. The tour was originally scheduled to commence on 13th July, as it had to be postponed as the Sri Lankan camp was hit by COVID-19. More than 2 members of Sri Lanka Contingent contracted the virus. The first ODI match will now be played on 18th July and the tour will go on till 29th July.

India have sent a relatively young squad to Colombo to face Sri lanka who are going through a terrible run. The Blues will be captained by Shikhar Dhawan. Rahul Dravid has been appointed as the head coach for this tour.

It was anticipated to be a jam-packed series altogether, but with Kusal Perera and Binura Fernando being ruled out, Sri Lanka have already suffered a huge blow and it will be difficult for them to find a footing in the series.
