South Africa vs India, 5th ODI – Toss Report and Playing XI

South Africa have won the toss and have opted to field

Virat Kohli, India captain: Yeah we wanted to bowl first. We thought we could have a total that we could chase down. Hopefully it will wear out in the second half and that’s the advantage of having two wristspinners. It’s a must-win game for them and we have the lead. It will get slower and tougher to bat on as the game progresses. We knew the conditions might not have suited the wristspinners, but they did extremely well. We are playing the same XI.

India (Playing XI): Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli(c), Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, MS Dhoni(w), Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah

Aiden Markram, South African captain: I was clear about my decision to bowl for sure. It has been skidding on under lights. There is a fair amount of grass on the surface too, and that leant us towards bowling. We need to get a few early wickets and get into the Indian middle-order. There are some overcast conditions and we are looking to bowl first for sure and we are sure the ball will nip around. The confidence levels are up after last game. Morris has a stiff back, so we are bringing in Tabraiz Shamsi into the side. We were always going to go with the spinner and Morkel was going to sit out, because it always tends to spin here.

South Africa (Playing XI): Aiden Markram(c), Hashim Amla, Jean-Paul Duminy, AB de Villiers, David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen(w), Andile Phehlukwayo, Kagiso Rabada, Lungisani Ngidi, Morne Morkel, Tabraiz Shamsi
