New Zealand pacer Trent Boult recently appeared in a show named Around the Wicket with Danish Sait wherein he opened about his various takes on the current Cricket scenario in the world. On the show, he was asked about the most difficult toughest that he has ever faced in reply of which, he named Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Chris Gayle.
To the surprise of many, he did not name Indian skipper Virat Kohli who is hands down considered to be one of the best batsmen in the world and it did not go down well with the Indian fans. The kiwi pacer however seemed unflinched by any reaction and spoke his heart out.
“I enjoy bowling to Chris Gayle but at the same time, it’s very intimidating. Rohit Shama is an incredibly destructive player. I also think that KL Rahul is a phenomenal player as well,” Trent Boult said.
On the prospect of playing the upcoming T20 World Cup which is set to commence in October, the pacer said, “Seems a long time ago. The tournament gives you a big platform on the world stage. Competing in the ICC tournament with the best players in the world is always really exciting. I am already in Dubai and it is hot.”
The fast bowling duo of Tim Southee and Trent Boult will be one of the prime weapons for New Zealand in the upcoming T20 series. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that both of them have a great understanding and partnership. Speaking on Tim Southee, Trent Boult said:
“Tim Southee is my best friend in the dressing room. I have known him for a long time, 15 years. We have some great fun together.”
“Tim Southee and myself is a nice combination. He swings the ball in and I try to swing it the other way. It has worked for us over the years,” he explained.
The Kiwi pacer also talked a bit about his recent experience after winning the Test mace with his national team against India.
“It’s an amazing feeling. A campaign for two years and to put together our game plan for six days of the Test match was good. We enjoyed the celebrations,” he concluded.
