Prior to the World Test Championship (WTC) final scheduled for Wednesday at The Oval, Rohit Sharma won the crucial toss amid overcast conditions and opted to put Australia into bat. In the fourth over, Mohammed Siraj provided India with an early breakthrough as he managed to nick Usman Khawaja behind the stumps, with KS Bharat making the catch.

Nevertheless, David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne displayed resilience, guiding Australia to a secure position of 54/1 by the conclusion of the 15th over.

Rohit appeared dissatisfied with the performance of the Indian pacers with the new ball. His demeanor spoke volumes during the 12th over when Labuschagne adeptly executed a full delivery from Siraj, clipping it through midwicket after shifting across the crease. The ball passed between Rohit and Shardul, stationed at mid-on and short mid-wicket respectively.

Rohit presumed the ball would reach the boundary, showing no inclination to pursue it. However, Shardul committed to a full-stretch dive, managing to prevent a run from being scored. The subsequent replay confirmed Shardul’s successful intervention, and the game continued without significant interruption.

Observing the on-field incident, netizens promptly labeled Rohit as lazy in a match where India sought to clinch their first ICC Trophy in a decade.
