The 9th match of the 2021 edition of Caribbean Premier League (CPL) was played between Trinbago Knight Riders and St Lucia Kings at Warner Park in St Kitts. The defending champions were the first team to play their first four fixtures. The defending champions lost their opening day match to Guyana Amazon Warriors.

Trinbago Knight Rider’s captained by Kieron Pollard were put to bat in the first innings after losing the toss. Kieron Pollard and Tim Seifert were building a good partnership and were looking to add some quick runs in the finishing overs of the game. In the 19th over bowled by Wahab Riaz, Tim Seifert faced a delivery that was way outside the wide line. It was so wide that Tim Seifert could not reach even after stretching completely. The umpire did not give a wide ball even though the batsmen did not stretch. Wahab Riaz already bowled four wide deliveries prior to this. Tim Seifert and Kieron Pollard did not like the decision of the umpire and had a chat with him. Pollard was extremely disappointed with the umpire’s decision so he moved away from the non-striker’s end far from his actual position. He stood near 30-yard mark to show his displeasure. Riaz bowled 10 deliveries in the 19th over of the game.

This isn’t the first time Pollard is having an argument with the umpires. There have been multiple incidences in the past where Pollard is having a disagreement with the umpire and he has always protested in a unique way.

Trinbago Knight Riders managed to score 158 runs though at a point they were struggling at 68/4 in the 12th over. Tim Seifert and Kieron Pollard added a quickfire 78 runs to finish the innings in a high. Kieron Pollard scored 41 off 29 deliveries while Seifert scored 37 off 25 balls. TRD won the match by 27 runs with Andre Fletcher being the lone warrior to score an unbeaten 81 runs.
