Team India’s coach Ravi Shastri tests positive for Covid-19: Team India had put out a stunning performance at Kennington, Oval in the fourth test. India were trailing by 99 runs at the end of second innings. However, they managed to nullify the lead and put out a stellar performance in front of the Oval crowd. India dismantled English bowling lineup in the 2nd inning as they scored 466 runs and put up a target of 368 in front of the home team. The visitors collapsed on the final day of the test match and India were found victorious at the end of the day’s play.

The series is currently poised by a 2-1 lead taken by skipper Virat Kohli and his men. India will play the fifth and the final test at Old Trafford in Manchester from Sept 10 to Sept 14. India will try to keep their lead or further extend it and win the away series hands down.

Just when everything was going right, a sad news emerged from the Indian camp in England. It is reported that Ravi Shastri and team India’s bowling and fielding coaches namely Bharat Arun and R Sridhar have tested positive for novel Coronavirus on Monday.

“The BCCI is learned to be peeved with Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli for attending public events in London last week,” as reported by TOI.

Sources have revealed that Indian skipper Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri were involved in a public event in the city.

“The board will probe the matter. This incident has left the board embarrassed. The coach and the captain will be asked to explain the circumstances after the fourth Test at Oval. The team’s administrative manager Girish Dongre’s role is also under the scanner,” a source close to the BCCI told TOI.

“The BCCI is in touch with the ECB and trying to ensure the series is completed without any further incidents. As of now, everyone is hoping that Shastri recovers soon. There is a selection meeting for the T20 World Cup on Wednesday. Maybe the matter will be raised there,” the official added.

However, skipper Virat Kohli is all fit and fine but the situation could have been worse. Other players in the dressing room could have caught the virus because of the two’s carelessness.
