WATCH : 55-Year-Old Jonty Rhodes Still Flying in the Field

At the age of 55, South African legend Jonty Rhodes once again proved why he is considered one of the greatest players of all time and one of the best fielders in the history of cricket.

During the International Masters League T20 match between the Australia Masters and South Africa Masters at BCA Stadium in Vadodara, Rhodes pulled off an incredible run to save what seemed like a certain boundary. With a remarkable sprint, he covered a vast stretch of the field, diving forward to stop the ball, and left the crowd in awe with his world-class reflexes.

Despite Rhodes’ heroic efforts in the field, the South Africa Masters were defeated comprehensively, as the Australia Masters triumphed by 137 runs. Australia batted first, posting an imposing total of 260/1 in 20 overs. Their captain, Shane Watson, led the charge with a scintillating knock of 122* off 61 balls, which included 19 fours and 6 sixes.

Callum Ferguson also played a brilliant innings, scoring 85 runs off 43 balls, before being dismissed by Alviro Petersen, with Rhodes taking a sharp catch. Ben Dunk contributed a quick-fire 34 off 16 balls to help Australia reach their enormous total.

Chasing a daunting target of 261, the South Africa Masters never really got going and struggled to keep up with the required run rate. Australia’s bowlers maintained tight lines, preventing the South African batters from settling in. In the end, South Africa fell well short, handing Australia a comfortable victory.

Though the South Africa Masters were defeated, Jonty Rhodes stole the show with his exceptional fielding. His display was a reminder of his glory days as a player and proved that passion and commitment can defy age.
