In the first Women’s Premier League auction, Deepti Sharma was highly sought after among several Indian celebrities. The UP Warriorz secured her services by paying an impressive INR 2.6 crore. With Sharma now in the mix, the UP Warriorz, which already features the likes of Sophie Ecclestone, Tahlia Mcgrath, and Alyssa Healy, is poised to become a top competitor.

Deepti Sharma was filled with overwhelming joy as she followed the auction with her teammates in South Africa. Her parents also shared in her happiness, their reaction spreading joy and becoming a viral sensation online.

Deepti Sharma, a 25-year-old star, has established herself as a top T20I all-rounder in recent times. According to the ICC WT20I player rankings, she holds the second position in the all-rounder’s category with a rating of 406 points. Additionally, she ranks sixth in the ODI format as an all-rounder in the ICC rankings, with 322 points to her credit.

Sharma boasts a remarkable feat, as she is the only player to have scored over 400 runs and taken more than 40 wickets in T20s since 2021. She holds the distinction of being the second-highest T20I wicket-taker for India and is just three wickets away from making history as the first Indian player to reach 100 T20 scalps.

The UP Warriorz, the team that Deepti Sharma now belongs to, is owned by the Capri Global group and was the fifth priciest franchise, valued at INR 757 crore. The Warriorz have appointed Jon Lewis as their head coach, Anju Jain as their bowling coach, and have brought on board Lisa Sthalekar, a four-time World Cup champion, as the team mentor.
