WATCH : Furious Rishabh Pant argues umpire over bizarre DRS drama

In their home game, Lucknow Super Giants’ captain, KL Rahul, won the toss and elected to bat first. Despite an early setback with the loss of Quinton de Kock’s wicket, Devdutt Padikkal, another left-handed batsman, joined Rahul at the crease.

However, the match took an unexpected turn in the fourth over when Ishan Sharma, in his second over of the spell, encountered a dramatic moment.

After conceding three wides in the over, Ishant’s second delivery missed its mark again, resulting in a down-the-leg stump delivery of good length, which Padikkal attempted to play.

The square leg umpire deemed it a wide, but Rishabh Pant, the Delhi Capitals’ captain, opted for a review. Initially taken as a review for the wide, the on-field umpire referred the decision to the TV umpire without consulting Ultraedge, leading to a heated exchange between Pant and Rohan Pandit.

Despite the controversy, the decision stood as a wide, and Delhi Capitals lost their review. However, the 26-year-old Pant expressed dissatisfaction with the ruling, sparking a lengthy argument with the umpire and igniting a storm of discussion on Twitter.
