After being put to bat first by Mumbai Indians, RR lost their two openers early in the innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Evin Lewis who were in fine form before the match were unable to contribute much with the bat. Wickets started falling at one end once Yashasvi Jaiswal was removed. RR eventually ended up at 90/9 after the completion of 20 overs.

While chasing down the total of 91, MI got off to a flying start. Rohit Sharma was constantly hitting boundaries at one end and moving the scoreboard for his side. Chetan Sakariya removed him after he managed to score 22 off 13 deliveries which included 1 four and 2 sixes. Ishan Kishan took the match away from the Royals by completing his fifty in 25 deliveries. Ishan almost scored at a strike rate of 200 which included 5 fours and 3 sixes.

However, in between these Glenn Phillips contributed a lot in the field. With his extraordinary fielding he saved a couple of runs for his side. In the first ball of the 5th over, Ishan Kishan smashed the delivery which went between the short third man and backward point. The ball was heading towards the boundary ropes at a lightning speed before Glenn Phillips sprinted all the way through to his right and puts in a full-length dive to flick the ball back into play. Though he saved just a run but these types of efforts pulls back the confidence back in the side and motivates other players to give everything they have.

A similar incident also took place in the first ball of the 11th over when Suryakumar Yadav skied the ball towards the deep midwicket. The ball bounced just in front of the boundary ropes. Phillips did amazingly well to run to his left like a panther and puts in a dive and then pushed the ball back to save a run. Glenn Phillips again saved a run as the two batsmen ran for three.

Though he failed to impress with the bat, but his serious fielding performances showed his determination and commitment towards the game even in a low scoring game like this.
