Harleen Deol made waves in 2021 with an impressive catch near the boundary line to dismiss Amy Jones during India’s T20I match against England in Northampton. Recently, she once again took the center stage while playing for Gujarat Giants against Mumbai Indians in the Women’s Premier League at Brabourne Stadium.
Deol pulled off a direct hit run out during the 19th over, sprinting from long-on to break the non-striker’s stumps and leave Humaira Kazi well short of the crease. What made the feat more impressive was that there was no drop involved.
In the next over, Harmanpreet Kaur, who was batting on 51 off 30 balls, tried to hit Ashleigh Gardner towards cow corner but ended up becoming Deol’s victim. Deol dove to her right and caught the ball with both hands to complete another impressive catch, which thrilled the Mumbai crowd.
Deol’s exceptional performance was widely praised by fans on social media, as her direct hit run out and sharp catch came in quick succession and helped limit MI to a below-average score of 162/8.
