On Tuesday, in Match 12 of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai Indians achieved a decent total of 162/8 against Gujarat Giants despite the early loss of in-form Hayley Matthews.

Harmanpreet Kaur was the top scorer with 51 off 30 balls, and Yastika Bhatia, Nat Sciver-Brunt, and Amelia Kerr made useful contributions. Ashleigh Gardner was the standout bowler for the Giants, taking 3/34.

During the match, Kim Garth, a former Irish cricketer who now plays for Australia, captured a lot of attention when she made an exceptional catch in the 17th over to dismiss Amelia Kerr. The delivery, bowled by Tanuja Kanwar, was a slow, drifting ball that Kerr attempted to drive over the cover region.

However, she ended up with a leading edge that was heading towards a backward point. Garth, who was positioned inside the circle, sprinted backwards and completed the catch, mirroring Kapil Dev’s famous catch to dismiss West Indies’ legendary batter Viv Richards in the decisive final of the 1983 World Cup.
