India seized control in the first Test of the bilateral series against West Indies, leaving the hosts struggling to regain their footing. Yashasvi Jaiswal played a vital role by scoring a century on the second day, gradually wearing down the West Indian bowlers with his impressive strokes.

However, the home team had a chance to dismiss Jaiswal after he reached his hundred, had they utilized the available technology more wisely. Unfortunately, they had exhausted all their review options prior to this crucial moment, leading to a despairing reaction from paceman Kemar Roach.

In the 103rd over of the innings, Roach delivered the fourth ball to the debutant Jaiswal. The delivery, back of a length, moved sharply inwards, narrowly evading the youngster’s inside edge. The ball struck Jaiswal’s pads, prompting Roach and his teammates to fervently appeal for the wicket.

However, the umpire ruled Jaiswal not out, much to the disappointment of the bowler. To compound matters, the hosts were unable to challenge the umpire’s decision as they had exhausted their review opportunities earlier in the day.

The subsequent replays indicated that three reds would have confirmed the dismissal, highlighting the costly mistake of not using the Decision Review System (DRS) intelligently. This further frustrated Roach, who expressed his frustration through a visceral reaction. Observing the incident, Twitterati took notice and expressed support for the Caribbean pacer on social media.
