WATCH: Krishnappa Gowtham misses a sitter in a crucial stage of the game

Krishnappa Gowtham missed a sitter in the final moments in the game which costed Chennai Super Kings the match. Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings met at the Dubai International Stadium for the 50th match of IPL. This match will be determine who will go at the top of the table. Both the teams have booked their berth for the playoffs this season.

Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to field first. Rishabh Pant came up with one change in their playing XI as Ripal Patel makes his debut in place of Steve Smith. While MS Dhoni came up with three changes. He replaced Sam Curran with Dwayne Bravo while KM Asif and Suresh Raina were replaced by Deepak Chahar and Robin Uthappa.

CSK openers did not start well as both of them were dismissed inside the powerplay overs. Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni took the innings forward for CSK. The two managed to score 70 runs for the 5th wicket. Rayudu scored an unbeaten 55 off 43 deliveries as CSK imposed a target of 137.

While chasing the target, opener Prithvi Shaw was dismissed early in the innings for 18 off 12 deliveries. Shikhar Dhawan did not get the support from the other end as Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and debutant Ripal Patel did not stick for much long. But Shardul Thakur turned the tables in the 15th over of the game by dismissing set batsmen Shikhar Dhawan and Ravichandran Ashwin in the same over.

But Shimron Hetmyer and Axar Patel took hold of the innings.

In the 18th over of the game MS Dhoni brought in Dwayne Bravo looking for a breakthrough. In the 2nd ball of the over, Bravo bowled a full toss and Hetmyer walks across and goes for a shot straight away. Bravo went searching for a yorker but served a half volley. The ball goes straight towards the long on fielder Krishnappa Gowtham who was there as a substitute fielder for Ambati Rayudu. Gowtham missed a sitter straight away and the ball goes straight through the fingers for a four. Gowtham missed a chance in a crucial stage of the game.

The miss catch went costly for CSK as Shimron Hetmyer scored an unbeaten quickfire of 28 off 18 deliveries and took the match away from CSK. DC eventually won the match by three wickets with two balls remaining.
