The ongoing IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings gave us a wonderful moment of sportsmanship that was loved and shared all over the internet by cricket fans all over the world. In between an intense match like this one, beautiful moments like this are often craved by fans and that was exactly what they got.
The two bottom of the table teams are currently squaring off against each other to retain their hopes of qualifying for the Playoffs of IPL 2021 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium. Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bowl first. It was pretty evident that the decision was nicely thought of as Mumbai Indians got results pretty instantly. Their bowlers, specifically their pacers did extremely well.
Punjab Kings openers KL Rahul and Mandeep Singh failed to do well and give their team a decent start as both of them departed early on in the game. Universe boss Chris Gayle came in at no.3 but he too failed to do well. He departed after scoring just 1 run. However, Punjab Kings’ new recruit Aiden Markram was the best batsman of the lot. He managed to eke out a decent knock of 38 off 27 and is still playing. In all probability, he will be pushing for his fifty so that Punjab Kings reach a decent target.
However, what is being talked about the most on social media about the match right now, is Krunal Pandya’s sportsmanship that he portrayed in a particular over of him. When he came in to bowl, KL Rahul and Chris Gayle were batting. The most unusual thing happened when Chris Gayle was on strike. On a particular delivery, Gayle hit the ball straight towards KL Rahul. The ball hit him and then toddled up to Krunal Pandya who hit the wicket.
KL Rahul was out of the crease and it would’ve been an out. But when the Umpire was about to go upstairs, Krunal Pandya asked him not to and MI captain Rohit Sharma too supported that decision. They said that they did not need the wicket. This display of Sportsmanship by Krunal Pandya and Rohit Sharma won over the internet.
