The Mumbai Indians appear to have the upper hand in their match against the Gujarat Giants, having lost only two wickets for 58 runs while pursuing a goal of 160 runs. Yastika Bhatia put on an outstanding performance, opening the innings with a score of 42 runs.

Her innings featured some spectacular shots, but a controversial decision surrounding the dismissal of Hayley Matthews created a dramatic moment in the game. During the fifth over of the innings, Sophie Ecclestone was delivering the penultimate ball to Matthews.

The spinner sent a full-length slider aiming for the blockhole, which Matthews somehow managed to dig out. However, the UP Warriorz team suspected that the ball had hit both the pad and bat, prompting them to request a review. The decision was then referred to the third umpire, who confirmed that the ball had brushed against Matthews’ boot before making contact with her bat as seen by UltraEdge.

Moreover, the ball was deemed to be hitting the wickets, making Matthews out via LBW. Nevertheless, the decision left the West Indian batter in shock. Reluctantly, she began walking off the field after exchanging words with the opposition captain, Alyssa Healy. However, the review process led to a surprising turn of events that unfolded before the eyes of all the viewers.

Upon replaying the footage, it became apparent that the earlier clip was incorrect, and a different sequence was revealed. The ball had not made contact with the pads before striking the bat, as was previously believed. As a result, the umpire corrected his earlier error, instructing the on-field umpire to uphold the original decision. This dramatic incident was finally concluded with the correct outcome.
