WATCH: Mohammad Shami picks up 3 wickets in last over

Just a couple of days ago, a lot of fans on twitter and on the other online platforms, were commenting that Mohammad Shami should be dropped from India’s T20 World Cup squad as there are better options now in the form of Harshal Patel or probably Avesh Khan. In reality, it’s true that Mohammad Shami’s form has dropped marginally in the IPL 2021 but there is this one rule that is always true for big players like him. Never write them off till the very last moment. And Mohammad Shami proved that line and his true worth once again in tonight’s clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings.

Punjab Kings have always been one of the strongest teams on paper but when it comes to real match performance, they always lack something. Despite brilliant performances from Mohammad Shami over all these years, they have never really been able to bring out something good in the end. However, they have given signs of hope to their fans after their victory against Kolkata Knight Riders in the last match and ever since, the team has been filled with positivity.

Their bowlers did extremely well in the beginning of the first innings and they were able to bag the big guns Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal pretty quickly. However, Glenn Maxwell was what stood in the way of PBKS and assured victory. That was Glenn Maxwell. The Australian played extremely well overall but in the last over was when Shami showed his true class.

On the very second delivery of the match, Mohammad Shami packed up Glenn Maxwell with a pin-perfect delivery. But that was not all. After conceding a 6 off that, he picked up another wicket in the form of Shahbaz Nadeem and then another in the form of RCB’s new man Garton. Sensational stuff from Mohammad Shami!
