During the 44th match of the 2021 edition of IPL, vintage Mahendra Singh Dhoni was seen on the pitch as he ended off the innings in style to book the playoff berth for his side.

Winning the toss, Chennai Super Kings restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad to 134/7 at Sharjah. Josh Hazlewood picked up 3/24 while Dwayne Bravo picked up 2/17. Shardul Thakur and Ravindra Jadeja took one each.
While chasing down the target of 135, CSK went off to a fiery start to the innings. The two were hitting the boundaries and there was no stopping them. CSK managed to score 47 at the end of the powerplay without the loss of a wicket. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad fell in the 11th over of the game off Jason Holder. The two managed to score 75 runs for the first wicket.
Soon after the dismissal of Gaikwad, Moeen Ali lost his wicket to Adil Rashid in the most unluckiest way. Suresh Raina was removed by Jason Holder soon after coming to the crease. CSK went from 75/0 to 108/4 in a matter of 5.4 overs.
CSK were suddenly under huge pressure after losing consecutive wickets. SRH are suddenly back in the game after a long time. Ambati Rayudu and skipper MS Dhoni were on the pitch. Both kept rotating the strike to move the scoreboard for the team. Eventually they came closer to the target and required three runs in the final over with Ambati Rayudu on strike.
SRH skipper Kane Williamson handed the ball to Siddarth Kaul in the final over. In the 4th ball of the over MS Dhoni sends the ball for a six which went soaring over the midwicket stands to carry his team into the playoffs. MS Dhoni finishes off in style. Kaul overpitched the delivery onto the middle-stumps, Dhoni opened up his stance and freed those muscular arms, and crashed it, as it sails into orbit, into the streets of Sharjah. Dhoni scores 14 off 11 deliveries to books the playoff berth for his side.
