WATCH : Nepal stun Scotland with last-ball thriller

In a nail-biting finish at Dundee, Nepal clinched a sensational one-wicket win over Scotland in the ICC World Cup League 2 clash, with just one ball to spare. Chasing a daunting target of 297, Nepal’s last pair pulled off a dramatic victory, crossing the finish line after a wide delivery from Mark Watt. The final moment sent Nepalese fans into a frenzy, as they stormed the field in celebration of one of their most memorable wins.

The match had appeared firmly in Scotland’s control at one stage. After Nepal began their chase strongly, reaching 152 for 2, Scotland mounted a comeback by reducing them to 192 for 7. The sudden collapse put the pressure squarely on the lower order. But Karan KC, walking in at number 9, had other ideas. His fearless counterattack changed the game’s momentum completely.

Karan KC produced an unbeaten 65 off just 41 balls, showcasing calm under pressure and power-hitting skill. He smashed four sixes and played with great maturity, especially during the crucial final overs. In the penultimate over, he plundered 18 runs, bringing Nepal to the brink of an unlikely victory and setting the stage for a tense final over.

With five runs required from the last three balls, Karan held his nerve. He ran two twos off consecutive balls, leveling the scores with one delivery to go. Then came the twist — Mark Watt’s final ball veered down the leg side and was called wide by the umpire. The delay in the call only added to the drama, before the Nepal players and fans exploded in celebration.

Earlier in the day, Scotland had laid a solid foundation by posting 296 for 7 after electing to bat first. Charlie Tear top-scored with a composed 80, well supported by Finlay McCreath’s 55 and a handy 39 from Matthew Cross.

At one point, it looked like Scotland’s total would be enough to seal the game, but Karan KC’s heroics and Nepal’s fighting spirit turned the script on its head.
