WATCH: Prithvi Shaw hits three 4s in a row against Sri Lankan pacer Isuru Udana in first ODI

He came, he conquered, left. That was pretty much the story of Prithvi Shaw’s knock in the first match of the ODI series between India and Sri Lanka. The youngster played a quickfire innings of 43 runs in just 24 runs and departed early, but only after he had inflicted the damage on Sri Lanka’s bowling unit. Prithvi Shaw is like a new age Virender Sehwag of India. Fearless, courageous, and open minded. He plays the shots he wants to without being afraid of the consequences and probably that is what modern day cricket asks for.

Having opted to bat first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka managed to put up a pretty decent target of 263, despite losing a few early wickets. Coming on to chase, India made it look so effortless. It seemed as though the Blues were trying to chase the target in the first 20 overs, especially by seeing the way Prithvi Shaw was playing. The youngster hit as many as 9 fours in his short-lived innings. Out of these 9, he hit 3 fours consecutively, i,e, in a row while facing Isuru Udana. Can guess how frustrating it would have been for the bowler.

However, as mentioned earlier, Prithvi Shaw’s knock was short lived. Not long after that series of consecutive boundaries, he was dismissed by Dhananjaya De Silva. The youngster missed his half-century by just 7 runs.

Prtihvi Shaw was suffering from a poor patch of runs for the National team in the last few encounters. However as it is seemingly clear, things have changed now and the Delhi Capitals batsman is in terrific form. Today’s knock will definitely add to his confidence and he will be hoping to scoring a lot more runs in the series against Sri Lanka.
