During the first Test match, Ravichandran Ashwin of the Indian National Cricket Team verbally insulted Australian Captain Pat Cummins after dismissing him. Ashwin celebrated the dismissal with flair, running past Pat Cummins during the celebration.

India has claimed victory in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in each of the past three years. In 2016-17, Australia toured India for a Test series and won the first Test in Pune, but eventually lost the series 1-2.

On an action-packed opening day of the first Test for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Ravindra Jadeja’s triple strike helped India claim crucial wickets of Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith. However, Alex Carey and Peter Handscomb fought back and put pressure on India.

Carey was eventually removed by Ravichandran Ashwin, marking the spinner’s 450th Test wicket. This led to Australia’s captain, Pat Cummins, entering the game, but he too was taken out by Ashwin.

Prior to Jadeja’s strikes, Australia was in control with Smith and Labuschagne effectively handling the spin and establishing an 82-run partnership with 202 deliveries. Labuschagne was on 49 from 123 deliveries when he was expertly stumped by KS Bharat’s swift glove work and Jadeja’s clever bowling.

With the next delivery, Jadeja dismissed Matt Renshaw and had a chance for a hat-trick when he returned to bowl the next over. Although he didn’t achieve a hat-trick, he did eventually get Steve Smith out.

In the high-pressure environment of cricket, it’s common for both batsmen and bowlers to lose their composure and sometimes even engage in verbal abuse towards their opponents on the field. This was the case with Ravichandran Ashwin, who made headlines for his exchange with Australian Captain Pat Cummins during the first Test match at Nagpur’s Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium.
