The ODI series between India and Sri Lanka is set to commence on 18th July after being postponed due to COVID-19 outburst at the Sri Lankan camp and Indian players have hit the field again for their practise sessions. During yesterday’s practise session, Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson hit a sensational scoop shot while facing Bhuvaneswar Kumar and a video clip of the same has gone viral on social media. Fans are loving the form Sanji Samson is in and have already started tipping him ahead of Ishan Kishan to be India’s man behind the wickets for the Sri Lanka series.

Sanju Samson was recently made the captain of Rajasthan Royals and has been in tremendous form ever since. The Kerala born player made his International debut for India in 2019, but did not make a mark in the national colours. In the series against Sri Lanka, he will get a chance to break that notion.

However, Sanju Samson will have to compete against Mumbai Indians player Ishan Kishan for the wicket keeper’s spot. As mentioned by Sanjay Manjrekar last week, Ishan Kishan might be preferred over Samson due as he is more consistent than the latter. However, it will be totally upto head coach Rahul Dravid to decide.

However, the 26-year old is making his presence felt. Sanju Samson showcased his mettle in the training session. The best moment of the practice session came when he played a brilliant scoop shot off Bhuvneshwar Kumar, as mentioned earlier.
