MI started slow while chasing down the total of 136. They only scored 15 runs in the first three overs and was pressure was building on the opening batsmen. KL Rahul introduced Ravi Bishnoi into the who picked up not one but two wickets back-to-back. At first, he dismissed Rohit Sharma and then he knocked the stumps of Suryakumar Yadav who has been piss poor in the 2nd half of the season. Ravi Bishnoi pulled things back towards his side by picking up two important wickets while defending the low total.

Quinton De Kock had built a 45-run partnership with Saurabh Tiwary but was soon dismissed by Mohammad Shami. Hardik Pandya then came in who was struggling to score runs and has not played much cricket in the past few months. Saurabh Tiwary was the lone warrior for MI as he was consistently hitting boundaries and moving the scoreboard for his side.

MI needed 58 in the last 7 over when Arshdeep Singh came on to bowl the 14th over of the game. In the penultimate ball of the over, Arshdeep Singh bowled a low full toss intending to bowl a yorker to Saurabh Tiwary. Tiwary hits it straight to the bowler, who misses it as he only got his left hand towards the ball. The ball deflected off his palm and nearly crashes into the umpire who was smart enough to take an evasive action in the nick of time. The umpire ducked in quickly to save himself as the ball was travelling very fast.
