Shardul Thakur is doing it all for India. After a brilliant performance with the bat in both the innings of the fourth test, the Indian pacer is killing it with his bowling as well. Shardul Thakur picked up the first wicket of England in their second innings in the form of Rory Burns, and thus broke the partnership of Burns and Haseeb Hameed which was causing many problems to the Indian bowling unit and was already looking very lethal. With this wicket, Shardul Thakur has paved the way for the other Indian bowlers to work on their hopes of winning the fourth test and thus securing a firm 2-1 lead in the series.

Rory Burns completed his well deserved century but his celebrations did not last long as he had to depart shortly after owing to Shardul Thakur’s brilliance. Infact, he edged Shardul to Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant on the very next ball after completing his fifty. Shardul Thakur bowled an in-swinger to the left handed batsman who completely misjudged it. He tried to defend it on the backfoot but was too late. The delivery was too sublime for Rory Burns to get a second chance to correct his mistake and he had to depart. Thus, Shardul Thakur broke the deadlock.

As of now, England need 263 runs to win in 78 overs and India need 9 wickets to win. It seems unlikely though that the match is going to be tied and thus one of the two teams is going to get the lead tonight in the series. The question is, which team will it be.
