SNP won the toss and elected to bat first. St. Kitts gave a poor start to the innings having lost Evin Lewis, Chris Gayle and Andre McCarthy for 28/3. However, left-handed batsmen Sherfane Rutherford lost his wicket due to miscommunication between him and Asif Ali. Rutherford took a single and wanted to run for a second. But Asif Ali showed no interest in going for a second run. Rutherford ran to the striker’s end without listening to Asif Ali’s call and eventually got himself out at the non-striker’s end.
Sherfane Rutherford was extremely frustrated by Asif Ali’s decision to not go for a second run. Rutherford was pissed off and was seen throwing the cricketing gears while making his way to the pavilion.

Rutherford is currently the second highest run getter in the 2021 edition of CPL with 201 runs in 7 matches at an average of 40.20. Rutherford was dismissed after scoring 14 runs from 16 deliveries which included a six. Fabian Allen also added some valuable runs in the end as he scored 34 runs off 32 deliveries. St. Kitts were bowled out for 118.

Roston Chase delivered an unbeaten 51 runs off 38 deliveries with 4 fours and 2 sixes leading his team to victory in 15.4 overs. Roston Chase was given the man of the match award. He said: “Today was an easier task at hand. Run-rate wasn’t high. Mentality was to knock it around. Got a chance as well so that helped too. Pitch was getting better, lot easier to bat on. Thought Fletcher was going for it (Gayle’s catch). But he backed out at the last minute, so had to go for it. Sammy’s been talking about bouncebackability. Good for our confidence. What will be will be (selection for T20 WC). Just want to enjoy.”

FAF Du Plessis in the post-match conference said: “It was a good weekend for us. Very good team as well. It was very hot out there today and Roston Chase was brilliant, good to see he’s put in another one today. He’s [Jeavor Royal] a great find for us, hasn’t played much cricket but has a big heart – that’s always really pleasing for a captain to see. Today I took a chance, Devon [Thomas] is such a powerful hitter, change it up today – it worked today, another day, he would’ve smashed four sixes and make us look like a fool. Hopefully we can keep going, we don’t want to look too far ahead though, still a lot of cricket left in the competition.”
