With the three-match series tied at 1-1 going into the final match on Monday, Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat.

Despite early setbacks, Janith Liyanage’s impressive century propelled the visitors to a competitive total, despite a temporary halt in play due to a collision between two Bangladeshi players.

In the penultimate delivery of the innings, Taskin Ahmed bowled a back-of-a-length ball outside off stump, which Pramod Madushan attempted to slash over cover but ended up with a top-edge, sending the ball looping towards point.

Both Jaker Ali and Soumya Sarkar rushed for the catch from backward point and cover-point respectively, resulting in a collision despite Sarkar holding onto the ball.

The collision led to a serious injury for Jaker, who lay on the field as the umpires called for a stretcher, swiftly carrying off the 26-year-old. With injuries plaguing the match, Jaker Ali’s exit compounded the hosts’ troubles, sparking a frenzy on Twitter.
