Chennai Super Kings, choosing to bat first, started on a promising note as Devon Conway struck a couple of crisp boundaries. However, his stay at the crease was short-lived, as he was dismissed early. Yudhvir Singh then tightened the screws further by removing Urvil Patel, thanks to a sharp low catch by Kwena Mphaka.
In a surprise move, CSK sent Ravichandran Ashwin up the order, and he managed a quick-fire cameo. But it was Ayush Mhatre who really provided the fireworks, smashing 43 off just 20 balls to inject momentum into the innings. His efforts helped CSK reach 68/3 by the end of the powerplay.
Unfortunately for Chennai, their innings lost direction after Mhatre’s departure. Jadeja followed him soon after, leaving a rebuilding job for Dewald Brevis and Shivam Dube. The pair stitched together a steady 59-run partnership, but the acceleration in the final overs never came.
Shivam Dube struggled to find the boundary, and MS Dhoni’s unusually slow 16-run knock further added to the stagnation. With just 28 runs coming off the last four overs, CSK had to settle for a below-par total of 187, which felt inadequate given their strong start.
In response, Rajasthan Royals absorbed the early pressure with composure. Yashasvi Jaiswal then exploded in the third over, taking Khaleel Ahmed to the cleaners with three fours and a six. Although he departed soon after, his aggressive cameo had already given RR the upper hand.
Sanju Samson and Vaibhav Suryavanshi capitalized on the platform, building a solid 98-run partnership that shifted the momentum decisively in their favor. Samson’s knock of 41 off 31 anchored the innings, while Suryavanshi’s fluent 50 off 27 balls ensured the chase stayed on track.
With the equation down to just over 50 runs from 40 deliveries, the Royals were firmly in control. Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel finished things off in style. Jurel, in particular, was sensational—hammering 31* off just 12 balls, including five towering sixes, to seal the match with ease. Rajasthan cruised home with nearly three overs to spare, capping off a clinical performance with both bat and ball. CSK were left ruing their inability to capitalize on a promising start.
