Chasing Lucknow’s total of 174/5, Rajasthan Royals got off to a dream start thanks to openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and debutant Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The duo raced to 61 without loss by the end of the powerplay, putting the hosts firmly in control.
All eyes were on 14-year-old Suryavanshi, who announced his arrival in style with a six off his very first ball. He batted with maturity beyond his years, striking at an impressive 174. Jaiswal anchored the innings beautifully, notching up a fluent half-century off just 31 balls.
But just as Rajasthan looked set to dominate, Aiden Markram changed the momentum with a crucial breakthrough in the ninth over.
On the fourth ball of the over, Markram went around the wicket and bowled a full delivery on the leg side, cleverly taking the pace off.
Suryavanshi, playing slightly early and reaching out, was beaten by the turn. He lost balance, and Rishabh Pant was lightning-quick behind the stumps. Replays confirmed it was a fair delivery, with the youngster’s foot in the air as the bails were dislodged.
