mesh, who took the place of Mohammed Shami in the third Test, came to bat with India’s score at 88-8, following the demolition of their top order by Australia’s spinners. However, having already registered a century in first-class cricket, Umesh got off to a flying start by smashing Nathan Lyon’s fifth delivery for a massive six over mid-wicket with a powerful slog sweep.

After a single from Axar Patel at the other end, Umesh hit Todd Murphy for another six, making it two in two balls. Murphy pitched the ball up, but Umesh confidently bent down and slog-swept it again, this time over backward square, which left the dressing room in awe.

During his innings, Umesh also hit a four by hoicking Murphy over mid-wicket, adding crucial runs to India’s total down the order. Unfortunately, Umesh’s entertaining knock came to an end when he was caught by Matt Kuhnemann for 17, and India were bowled out for a meagre 109.

Umesh’s impressive knock included two sixes, one each against Lyon and Kuhnemann. His first six came with a slog sweep off Nathan Lyon, where he lofted the ball over mid-wicket. Two balls later, he repeated the same stroke against Todd Murphy’s tossed-up delivery, taking India’s score beyond the 100-run mark.

Umesh’s remarkable shots drew admiration from his teammates, including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who expressed their delight. Even the crowd was impressed with Umesh’s display on a pitch where batters were struggling against the unpredictable surface.
