People may criticize Virat Kohli as much as they like but he has proven on several occasions that he has what it takes to lead the team from the front and that is exactly what he did today on the Day 2 of the second test between India and England.
India have been off to a great start in the ongoing second test match after getting a first innings score of 363 and are now pushing the English batsmen with their lethal pace attack consisting of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj and Mohammad Shami. However, the visitors were finding it difficult to break through the superb defence of the English openers for the first 10-14 overs, which was a worrying thing for the Indians. If the English batsmen get to play for 20+ overs, it will be really difficult to compete against them on their home ground.
Captain Virat Kohli then came to the rescue with his out-of the world strategy which reminded fans of former Indian captain MS Dhoni, who was renowned for in-game tactics like this. Mohammad Siraj was having a tough time bowling against the Englishmen in the first few overs. Thus, when Virat Kohli sent him to bowl the 15th over, he was seen giving some advice to the Hyderabad born in utter secrecy. Whatever Virat Kohli said, it did wonders as Mohammad Siraj picked up the ever important wicket of Dom Sibley on the very next delivery, shocking everyone. It was a weird delivery indeed, difficult to be read by any fielder. Siraj bowled an in-swinging delivery on the leg side of Sibley who nicked it towards a fielder who was seemingly placed for the exact same purpose.
Mohammad Siraj did not stop there and went on to dismiss Debutant Haseeb Hameed for a duck, moments after he picked up the wicket of Dom Sibley.
