Zimbabwe Wicket-keeper Regis Chakabva has made a run-out that former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni would have been proud of. MS Dhoni, during his times in International cricket, was well known for his insane Wicket-keeping skill, be it stumping or running the opposition out. However, some other keepers around the world who look up to Dhoni for inspiration have now started copying the legend and Regis Chakabva falls under that exact category. However, he has added his own twist to the vintage MS Dhoni run-out.

Zimbabwe are currently playing a 3-match T20 series against Bangladesh. In the first match that was played today, Zimbabwe won the toss and decided to bat first. They put up a decent target of 153 in 19 overs (they got all out), thanks to good knocks by Regis Chakabva (43 off 22) and Dion Myers (35 off 22). Mustafizur Rahman was undoubtedly the best performer in Bangladesh’s bowling unit . He picked up 3 wickets at an expense of 31 runs to totally dismantle Zimbabwe’s batting lineup.
Coming in to chase, Bangladesh got just the starting they required, thanks to brilliant knocks by both their openers. Mohammad Naim scored 63 off 51 while Soumya Sarkar scored 50 off 45. It was because of the momentum that they gave that Bangladesh won the match easily with an over and 8 wickets to spare.

It was during Bangladesh’s innings that Zimbabwe keeper Regis Chakabva came up with the wonder run-out. In-form Saumya Sarkar was on the run and it looked like he would easily reach home at full stretch as Chakabva had his back facing the wickets. However, just like MS Dhoni, he directed the ball towards the wicket without even seeing it and Saumya Sarkar was miraculously and rightfully ruled out. Although Zimbabwe didn’t manage to win the match, this runout will be remembered for a long time.
