During the ongoing Asia Cup 2023, an old tweet from 2010 by former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh regarding Rohit Sharma has recently gained widespread attention. In 2010, Rohit Sharma, who was then a budding talent in the Indian cricket team, was still in the process of establishing himself as a middle-order batsman in a star-studded lineup.

On June 23, 2010, Rohit Sharma took to his Twitter account, which has since been renamed (X), to inform his fans that he had completed his final practice session ahead of the Asia Cup 2010 final against Sri Lanka, scheduled for the following day. He kindly requested fans to extend their best wishes to him and the team for the crucial match.

Yuvraj Singh and Rohit Sharma have maintained a friendly relationship since their days as teammates in the Indian cricket squad. In response to Rohit’s tweet, Yuvraj playfully replied:

The Indian team, under the leadership of MS Dhoni, emerged victorious in the final match, securing the Asia Cup trophy with an impressive 81-run victory over Sri Lanka.

Rohit Sharma played a significant role in the match, contributing 41 runs from 52 balls while batting at the fifth position. Dinesh Karthik (66), who opened for India in that game, was awarded the Player of the Match for his match-winning half-century.

As the World Cup approaches, Indian captain Rohit Sharma has rediscovered his form in the One Day International (ODI) format, achieving three consecutive half-centuries in the Asia Cup 2023. In the initial group match against Pakistan, he scored only 11 runs from 22 balls.
