WATCH: Sri Lanka make correct use of DRS to dismiss Hardik Pandya

Team India have already sealed the ODI series against India by winning the first two matches and they could thus experiment with their starting XI for the third ODI. However, as it now stands, the changes did not go down well as the Blues are in grave danger having lost as many as 8 wickets within the first 35 overs of their innings.

Indian skipper Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and opted to bat first. He departed early after making 13 runs, but his opening partner Prithvi Shaw played a lion-hearted knock. The youngster smashed 49 off 49 in no time and missed his fifty by just 1 run before being dismissed by Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka. Sanju Samson, who made his ODI debut today, also played a brilliant knock of 46 off 46 and missed his 5- by just 4 runs.

Despite getting an awesome start thanks to the duo of Sanju Samson and Prithvi Shaw, India failed to keep up the momentum as they lost a number of wickets in quick succession.

Unfortunately, luck did not favour the blues as well. Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya is well known for his big-hitting abilities and it was expected of him to finish off India’s innings. However it was not to be. In the second delivery of the 28th over, Lankan spinner Jayawickrama’s ball hit Hardik Pandya’s pads and Umpire Kumar Dharmasena called it as a not out. Sri Lanka then took a review to go upstairs and the third umpire then changed the decision as Out as all the three indicators went red. Thus, Hardik Pandya had to depart leaving India’s innings in an awkward and uncertain position. As of now, the Blues have scored 202/8 in 36 overs.
