Mumbai Indians locked horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore for the 39th match of the 2021 edition of IPL. Both the teams lost their two opening matches after resumption of the tournament.

MI skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first. MI replaced Saurabh Tiwary with their star all-rounder Hardik Pandya who will play his first professional match after a gap of 2 months. Virat Kohli made two changes in his playing XI. He brought Kyle Jamieson, Daniel Christian and Shahbaz Ahmed in place of Wanindu Hasaranga, Tim David and Navdeep Saini.
After Devdutt Padikkal’s early dismissal, Kohli along with Srikar Bharat built a good partnership of 68 runs. After Bharat was dismissed for 32 runs, Glenn Maxwell came in and showed his masterclass. Maxwell along with Kohli put up 51 runs for the 3rd wicket. Kohli completed his second consecutive fifty after being dropped on 0 in the first over. Adam Milne removed the RCB skipper soon after he completed his half century. Maxwell on the other hand was hitting MI bowlers with ease. He kept on hitting the ball outside the park by using his trademark shot-reverse sweep.

However, he was dismissed in the 19th over off Jasprit Bumrah. In the very next delivery Bumrah removed dangerous looking AB De Villiers who edged a 145kmp ball. The 19th over turned the tables for Mumbai Indians as they restricted RCB to 165/6. Before Maxwell and ABD were dismissed, it looked like RCB are going to easily reach the 180-run mark on the board.
AB De Villiers wife Danielle along with one his son was seen watching the match from the stands.
As soon as AB De Villiers got out, his son gave a cute reaction while watching the match from the stands. He threw his hand in frustration in the air but ended up hurting himself. ABD’s son was extremely disappointed when Bumrah dismissed his dad. Even his wife Danielle was shocked by the dismissal.
