The 2nd leg of the 2021 edition will begin today from 7:30pm IST. Mumbai Indians will lock horns with three-time champions Chennai Super Kings at the Dubai International Stadium in UAE.

However, MI skipper Rohit Sharma is not fully fit today. Rohit Sharma was not wearing his spikes during training and looks gingerly in what appears to be a fitness test of sorts.

Rohit had a sensational tour to England. He has scored a lot of runs in the English soil and will be specially remembered for his brilliant hundred in the 4th test at Oval.

When MS Dhoni and Kieron Pollard came out for the toss, it was quite evident that Rohit will not be playing today’s game. Dhoni flipped and coin and won the toss. CSK decided to bat first. Dhoni added that setting a huge total will be a better option. Sam Curran is not available while FAF Du Plessis, Josh Hazlewood and Dwayne Bravo will be playing in today’s clash.

Chennai Super Kings (Playing XI): Faf du Plessis, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni(w/c), Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Josh Hazlewood.

MI’s stand in captain Kieron Pollard said he’s happy to lose the toss because he was unsure what to do. Pollard commented on Rohit Sharma and said: Rohit is okay, he’ll be fine sooner rather than later, I’m just the captain for today.”

Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya misses out today’s high voltage clash against CSK. However, Anmolpreet Singh will be making his debut today and has received his cap from Sachin Tendulkar.

CSK have struggled in Dubai last year but are currently standing in the 2nd position. Moeen Ali and Suresh Raina’s addition to the squad will surely boost the team’s performances. FAF Du Plessis got injured towards the end of CPL. But the latter has recovered from his groin injury. CSK are poised 2nd in the points table with 10 points from 7 matches.

MI did not have a good start to their campaign this year. However, they bounced back in style and are currently poised in the 4th position in the table with 8 points in 7 matches. Hardik Pandya looked clearly out of form in the 1st leg but the latter is expected to explode in the 2nd half of the tournament.
