CSK’s star opener, Ruturaj Gaikwad, will be unable to participate in the WTC 2023 Final due to his upcoming marriage. As a result, Yashasvi Gaikwad, an opening batter for RR, will serve as the standby player in the squad. Ruturaj Gaikwad’s marriage is scheduled for June 3-4, and he will not be able to join the team until June 5.

Previously, the BCCI had included Ruturaj Gaikwad as a standby opener for the WTC Final due to the team’s recent injury issues. However, the CSK player informed the BCCI that he would only be available to join the team after June 5. Coach Rahul Dravid decided to select a replacement and chose Yashasvi Jaiswal.

A BCCI official informed The Indian Express, “He (Jaiswal) will be joining the Indian team as Gaikwad has informed us that he won’t be able to fly due to his marriage. He would be able to join the team post-June 5. (But) Coach Rahul Dravid took a call, asking the selectors to pick a replacement. So, Jaiswal will now fly to London soon.”

Ruturaj Gaikwad will be marrying his longtime acquaintance, Utkarsha. Although they were seen together at a gym last year, Utkarsha remains a mystery to the public, as the young batter has not shared many pictures of them together. They have reportedly been in a relationship for a couple of years. The wedding ceremony is scheduled for June 3-4.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, the opener for RR, showcased exceptional form in the IPL 2023 for his team, Rajasthan Royals. He amassed 625 runs in 14 games, including a magnificent century against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, making him one of the top five run-getters. Additionally, he scored 404 runs in five matches during the Ranji Trophy.

The Indian team management has instructed Yashasvi Jaiswal to begin practicing with the red ball, and since he already possesses a UK visa, he will be flying to London in the next few days. The Indian team has departed for London in batches, with players like Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, and Umesh Yadav already commencing their training in London.

Team India skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan will depart for London on May 28, while Suryakumar Yadav will leave on May 30 along with Mohammed Shami, Shubman Gill, and Ravindra Jadeja, who will be playing in the IPL final on Sunday. The WTC final is set to commence on June 7 at the Oval Cricket Stadium in London.
