Chennai Super Kings faced arch rivals Mumbai Indians in the first match of the 2021 edition of IPL at The Dubai International Stadium in UAE. MS Dhoni led CSK won the toss and decided to bat first. Dwayne Bravo, Faf Du Plessis and Josh Hazlewood were included in the starting XI while Sam Curran missed the match. Kieron Pollard was the stand in captain of MI as Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma missed the match due to injury problems. Anmolpreet Singh made his debut as he received his cap from Sachin Tendulkar.

Mumbai Indian’s completely dismantled Chennai Super Kings top order as most of them scored single digit scores. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored an unbeaten 88 runs off 58 balls. Jadeja and Gaikwad came to the rescue and scored an 81-run partnership. Towards the end Bravo scored a quickfire 23 runs off 8 deliveries which helped CSK reach a total of 156.
To defend the total, MS Dhoni had set up the field in a wonderful way to pick up the wicket of Ishan Kishan. Many cricket fans and legends praised Dhoni for his beautiful field setting because of which CSK picked up fours wickets in 10 overs.

Sunil Gavaskar said, “The hug should be given to MS Dhoni for his field placing and getting the wicket of Ishan.”
Ishan Kishan hit Bravo for a four off the first ball he bowled. Ishan hit the full ball for a drive which got edged and went to the fine leg boundary. In the very next delivery Kishan was dismissed by Bravo who attempted to play a lofted drive but the ball went straight into Suresh Raina’s hand.
Ishan Kishan looked extremely disappointed as he gave away his wicket cheaply. Ishan knew that this wasn’t a ball he would like to get out.
