In a match where the biggies like Moeen Ali and Faf Du Plessis departed for a duck, CSK batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad is spitting fire and there is just no stopping him. The youngster is simply on fire and even ace pacers of Mumbai Indians like Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah are having a tough time bowling against him.
However, the pacers are still able to contain him a bit but the spinners better not mess with him tonight. After what he did to Krunal Pandya in an over, none of the Mumbai Indians’ spinners will be confident enough to face the 24-year old.
Facing MI allrounder Krunal Pandya, Ruturaj Gaikwad, who had already completed his half century by then, totally demolished him. He hit 18 runs off Pandya in what proved to be the most expensive over of the first innings so far and hammered the confidence of the spinner completely. It is doubtful whether captain Kieron Pollard will hand him the ball again in this match.
Chennai Super Kings did not have an ideal start top the match having lost the big wickets of Faf Du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Moeen Ali and MS Dhoni very early on in the match. But the duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ruturaj Gaikwad took over the control of the innings from there and their Fifty runs partnership helped CSk regain the lost momentum.
However, a majority of the credit needs to be given to Ruturaj Gaikwad who maintained his calm in the initial phase, showed maturity and then played on front foot hitting it out of the park when it was required, i.e, in the later half of the game.
