Indian wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan trolled the New Zealand skipper Tom Lathan in unique way. Tom Latham dislodged the bails with his gloves and third umpire gave Hardik Pandya ‘OUT’. That was such a controversial decision.
Mitchell to Hardik Pandya, out Bowled!! An absolute freakish dismissal if there ever was one! Bonus wicket for the Black Caps perhaps. The bail clearly fell forward, which means it should have been flicked by the keeper’s glove. The TV umpire seems to have missed it. Will surely be a talking point today. Was an in-angler, cramped Hardik for room on the cut and the extra bounce meant that he missed it completely.
The bail came off and NZ appealed for a bowled dismissal. They weren’t entirely sure, more so Latham who was behind the stumps. Question really was whether it was the keeper’s glove that disturbed the bails. Very tight on the replays to be fair, although it did seem like the keeper’s deflection maybe, just maybe. The third ump though rules it in favour of Latham, and a perplexed Hardik walks off unhappy. A wicket against the run of play and a much-needed one for the visitors.
Now it’s time for the revenge and Ishan Kishan has done that. Kuldeep Yadav to Latham, no run, what is it with Latham and the sticks today? There’s an appeal from the Indians. They are checking for a hit wicket. Latham goes back in his crease and defends with a closed bat-face. He’s nowhere near the sticks. It was Ishan Kishan who cheekily dislodged the bails!
