During the PSL 2023 match between Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United on March 5, Danny Morrison, the former New Zealand cricketer and popular broadcaster, made headlines once again for his unusual and funny antics.
Morrison is part of the broadcasting team in the ongoing Pakistan Super League along with Erin Holland, the wife of Australian all-rounder Ben Cutting. During the pre-match chat show, Morrison suddenly lifted Holland in his lap, which was shared on social media and went viral. While Morrison has been involved in such acts in the past, he was heavily trolled by cricket fans for this one.
As for the game itself, Quetta Gladiators posted a competitive total of 179 runs in their 20 overs with all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz scoring a crucial 52 and Najibullah Zadran and Umar Akmal contributing 59 and 43 runs respectively.
Left-arm pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi took 3 vital wickets while Faheem Ashraf grabbed a couple of wickets for Islamabad United. In response, Islamabad United’s Colin Munro played a stellar knock of 63 runs off just 29 deliveries, getting support from Azam Khan and Faheem Ashraf who scored 35 and 39 runs respectively.
Despite the Quetta franchise’s attempts to restrict Islamabad United, the latter chased down the total with 2 wickets remaining, winning the game. With this result, Quetta Gladiators have lost 6 out of their 7 games and are at the bottom of the PSL 2023 points table, while Islamabad United have won 5 out of their 7 games and are at the second position.
