After a contrasting start to the T20 World Cup 2024, India and Pakistan were set to face each other with two crucial points on the line. A loss for Pakistan would put their chances of advancing to the Super Eight in jeopardy.

Luck was on Pakistan captain Babar Azam’s side as he won the toss and opted to field first, despite rain interruptions.

However, it was Rohit Sharma who stole the spotlight early in the contest by hitting a six off Shaheen Afridi in the very first over.

Afridi started with a full delivery at the stumps and followed it with a length ball outside off. Adjusting his line to target the stumps again, Afridi bowled a fuller delivery, but with minimal lateral movement available, Rohit capitalized on it.

He picked the ball, angled across him, and launched it over the deep square leg boundary. This made Rohit the first player to hit a six off Shaheen Afridi in the first over in both ODIs and T20Is, sending Twitter into a frenzy.
