Shoaib Malik, a former Pakistan captain, experienced an unusual dismissal during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023 game against Peshawar Zalmi led by Babar Azam. Malik, who was playing for Karachi Kings, tried to execute a pull shot against Aamer Jamal’s short delivery in a recent match.
However, his bat slipped from his grip and flew off just as the ball struck it. Meanwhile, the bowler calmly caught the ball and secured Malik’s dismissal.
Karachi Kings suffered a significant setback with the dismissal of Malik during their chase of a 198-run target, leaving them at 81/4. Despite their efforts, they could only manage a total of 173/8.
During their last encounter, Mohammad Amir had shown frustration after conceding a boundary to Babar Azam, which led to a reaction from Malik. In response to this issue, Malik emphasized the importance of showing respect towards one another in the press conference following the match.
He acknowledged that not everyone would get along, but a professional relationship with mutual respect should be maintained.
Malik believed that healthy competition was beneficial for the league but emphasized that the players should not cross the line. He urged the players to focus on what motivates them to perform their best while ensuring that they respect each other both on and off the field.
