After a calm start in the opening match of the five-game series against India, Australia surged aggressively to set the hosts a challenging target of 209, largely propelled by an outstanding century from Josh Inglis.

The wicket-keeper batsman scored 110 runs from just 50 deliveries, adorning his explosive innings with 11 boundaries and eight spectacular sixes. Among the array of impressive shots he showcased that day, one moment stood out during the 17th over, leaving both the crowd and the bowling side astounded.

During Arshdeep Singh’s second delivery in his penultimate over, Inglis, standing unbeaten at 94, pre-empted a shot by swiftly changing his stance before the ball was bowled. Singh reacted promptly by sending the ball significantly wide of the stumps, trapping Inglis in an awkward position seemingly with no escape.

However, the 28-year-old cricketer almost knelt down to slide his bat under the full delivery and with a flawless flick of his wrist, launched the Kookaburra over Ishan Kishan’s head for a boundary.

Even Indian captain Suryakuamr Yadav, known for his unconventional stroke play, couldn’t help but express his astonishment, visibly opening his mouth in disbelief and admiration. This incident perfectly encapsulated the reaction of the Twitter community to the extraordinary shot.
