Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals had a comfortable 8 wicket victory over Kane Williamson’s Sun Risers Hyderabad on Wednesday at the Dubai International Stadium. Delhi topped the group after their win over SRH with 14 points in 9 matches and are very close to qualification. However, SRH are still at the bottom of the table with a win in 8 matches so far. A qualification into the playoffs looks unlikely for the orange army.

SRH skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and decided to bat first. SRH played Rashid Khan, Kane Williamson, Jason Holder, and David Warner as their four overseas players, while DC played Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, and the South African duo of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje as their four overseas players.
SRH did not start well as their former captain David Warner was dismissed for a duck off Anrich Nortje. SRH lost wickets at regular intervals. Skipper Kane Williamson got two lifelines but failed to utilise any and was dismissed after scoring 18 runs. Towards the end some sort of recovery took place as Abdul Samad scored 28 off 21 with two fours and a six. Rashid Khan also added some valuable runs towards the end and SRH finished at 134/9 after 20 overs.
Dangerous looking Prithvi Shaw was dismissed for 11 runs off 8 deliveries. But DC’s veteran opener Shikhar Dhawan and former DC skipper Shreyas Iyer took hold of the innings. The two added 52 runs for the 2nd wicket before the southpaw was dismissed for 42 off 37 deliveries.
Despite losing Dhawan’s wicket, DC maintained a decent run rate while chasing the total. Skipper Rishabh Pant was hitting the ball at every corner of the park. DC reached the target with 13 balls remaining as Shreyas Iyer scored an unbeaten 47 runs off 41 deliveries while Rishabh Pant scored an unbeaten 35 runs off 21 deliveries. Delhi reached the target comfortably and clinched an 8-wicket victory over Hyderabad.

During the partnership for the 3rd wicket a crazy incident took place. Rishabh Pant tried to play a cut shot hoick Rashid Khan for a six. The southpaw lost the grip while attempting the shot and his bat flew towards the leg side and was collected by SRH skipper Kane Williamson. Rashid Khan pitched the ball outside off and SRH players hilariously appealed for a caught behind.
